How to Plan Your Dream Wedding
Planning a wedding is no easy task, but the end result makes it all worth it. There are a few steps you can take as a bride to minimize the amount of stress during the months of planning. Set aside time to plan:
It might sound silly, but planning time to plan is an important part of the process. If you don’t give yourself time to plan, it’ll be easier to forget/overlook important details.
Set a budget:
Setting a budget before the planning begins will make it easier for you to stay within your means. If you know how much you want to spend you’ll be less likely to make purchases that are beyond your budget. This will help ensure you don’t end up overspending and leaving yourself with almost no money after planning the wedding.
Do your research before you get your heart set on something that might not be feasible. Make sure you know how long you’ll need to give notice for people like your DJ, Photographer, and Bakery. They might have a long waiting list so be sure to contact them as soon as possible to find out their timelines.
Pick the right people:
Picking your bridal party is a big decision. You want to make sure that the people you choose are reliable and that you will be able to trust them to help with some of the wedding details. If your best friend is, for lack of a better word, kind of flakey and tends to not follow through/always cancels at the last minute, then it’s safe to say she is not someone you can rely on to help you through the wedding process. She can absolutely be a guest at the wedding, but maybe not a wise choice to have her as a bridesmaid.
Don’t forget to have fun:
While planning a wedding is a stressful time, don’t forget that you are planning for one of the happiest days of your life; you should be having fun with it. What you and your fiance want is more important that what the “norm” is. Do what makes you happy as a couple. Take some time away from planning and spend time together as a couple doing what you do best, be happy together. Wedding planning puts a lot of stress and pressure on you as a couple and sometimes it’s ok to step away from the stress for a day and have a fun, relaxing date day together – with no wedding planning talk.
